Buying cryptos with a prepaid card? Yes, it is possible, although with its traps!
Look, I tell you that I have gone through that ordeal: buying cryptocurrencies with a prepaid card is possible, but some exchanges will give you more trouble than a suspicious landlord.
I have tried several sites like eToro, CEX, and Coinmama, and yes, they accept these cards... when they feel like it. Because let's be clear, these platforms sometimes change their policies faster than I change my opinion about the future of Bitcoin.
Prepaid cards are great: you load the cash in advance and that's it. You don't need to link it to any bank account or explain to your bank why you're buying "that internet thing." They work like debit cards but with more privacy.
The best part? You can use prepaid Visa or Mastercard gift cards. It has saved me more than once when I wanted to jump into a quick opportunity without going through the tedious traditional banking process.
But be careful, not all exchanges are the same. Some, especially the larger ones, let you use these cards without any issues. Others give you a thousand excuses about "additional verification" and end up rejecting your transaction. It's as if some traditional brokers are afraid of cryptos... What hypocrisy!
My personal advice: before loading a prepaid card for this purpose, confirm with the specific exchange that they accept them. I have had too many disappointments spending on cards that later turned out to be useless.
And no, I am not sponsored by anyone to say this. It is my pure experience after years of navigating this market that changes more than the weather in spring.
