Launch a coin: Is it really random or just another digital illusion?

Abstract generation in progress

Damn, I'm so fed up with this launching virtual coins! Everyone promises the same crap: "perfect randomness", "unbiased results", "like a real coin"... Lies! No algorithm is truly random, especially not these digital toys that pretend to replace something as basic as flipping a coin.

I have been programming for years and I know perfectly well that behind every "virtual launch" there is a predictable algorithm. Don't come to me with tales of "blockchain technology for greater transparency" - what nonsense! They are just taking advantage of the buzzword to sell something that doesn't even need that complexity.

The last time I tried to use Google to launch a coin, I ended up bombarded with personalized ads about betting apps. Coincidence? I don't think so. It's another trick to collect our data while we pretend to make "random" decisions.

It especially annoys me how companies have turned something as simple as launching a coin into another marketing tool. The "brands that incorporate virtual launches into promotions" are not looking to help you decide - they want your clicks, your attention, your data.

And those applications that claim to work without the internet... come on, they store a predetermined value in memory. That's not randomness! It's a cheap simulation that follows recognizable patterns if you use it enough.

Do you know what is really funny? That we need digital simulators to launch a coin 10,000 times. Who the hell needs that in their everyday life? Statistics students? They should use Excel or R, tools designed for data analysis, not this nonsense.

While everyone is mesmerized by these virtual coins, no one asks the important question: who really controls these algorithms? Why do we trust that they are "fair"? If trading platforms are manipulated, why would these simulators be different?

In short, if you want to make a real decision, take a real coin out of your pocket. At least you will know that physics is the one deciding, not a programmer in Silicon Valley who designed the algorithm to favor certain outcomes according to their own preferences.

And when they say that these tools are "educational"... please! They teach a completely false view of probability. A real coin has physical imperfections, the tosser has unconscious biases. That is true randomness, not these perfectly balanced digital mock-ups.

The next time you face an important decision, don't leave it in the hands of an algorithm. Use your instinct or, if you really need chance, do it the old-fashioned way: launch a coin and feel the weight of destiny in your own hands.
