Surprise Statements from the Founder of UniSwap, One of the Largest Platforms of Ethereum: Praised Another Altcoin! "Roadmaps Are Better"
Uniswap (UNI) founder Hayden Adams sparked new discussions in the Ethereum community by questioning the blockchain's scaling approach and warning that if DeFi continues to rely on Ethereum's Layer 1, Solana could gain an advantage.
Adams stated in a post he shared on social media, comparing the roadmaps of the two networks, "If the plan is to do DeFi on Layer 1 or vertical scaling, Solana has a better roadmap, team, and approach."
The comments regarding Solana came amid ongoing discussions about whether to continue prioritizing a rollup-centric Layer 2 strategy within the ETH ecosystem or to reconsider more direct Layer 1 scaling developments.
ETH has been focusing on horizontal scaling through rollup-L2 solutions that process off-chain transactions and settle them on the main network for a long time. Adams emphasized that this approach should not weaken Ethereum's five-year commitment to rollup-centric scaling amidst changing views.
"Ethereum has been working on a layer 2-centric or horizontal scaling roadmap for more than 5 years," Adams said, adding: "I'm in favor of scaling improvements to layer 1; That's what the rollup-centric roadmap entails."
However, some individuals in the Ethereum community criticized the inconsistency in how Layer 2s are handled, stating that it is a contradiction to claim support for rollups while largely remaining dependent on L1 for core functionality.
