On November 6th, Harris won California and received the biggest prize in the presidential election, 54 electoral votes. Harris has served as a US Senator and Attorney General, and the Democratic Party's influence in the state is strong, so the election result was expected. Since 1988, Republican candidates have never won the presidential election in the most populous state in the United States, and since 2000, Republicans have never seriously competed in the presidential election in California. In California, the number of registered Democrats is about twice the number of Republicans. The party occupies all state-level positions and dominates the legislature and congressional delegation. The Associated Press announced Harris' victory at 11:00 pm Eastern Time.
