There have been unusually large increases for three consecutive months, with each increase of 0.5 percentage points or this month's rise reflected in all three political streams. Long-term inflation expectations surged from 3.5% to 3.9% in March. This is the largest monthly increase since 1993, stemming from a sharp rise in independents, and comes on the heels of an already large increase in February.
